- Abstract
- Stream crossings (i.e., roads, utility lines, other linear developments) represent a potential focal point for local sediment and intercepted flow delivery, as well as representing a potential physical impediment to connectivity of fish populations (aquatic ecosystem connectivity including fish populations). A higher density of stream crossings in a watershed is generally indicative of greater risks of fine sediment inputs, although these risks will be dependent on the construction type (i.e., open box vs. closed box culverts), as well as the condition of stream crossing structures.
